The Nuts & Bolts
Who I See:
In individual therapy, I work with young adults and adults with Autism in that “in-between” stage as they move from adolescence to adulthood and begin to wonder “who am I” and “what do I do next?”.
My clients often feel that college is intimidating and they’re wondering why it seems like everyone else seems to be moving through it more easily than they are. They often describe social interactions as unclear and navigating them feels like everyone knows what to do, but they aren’t feeling so confident, causing them to distance themselves from others while also yearning for belonging. They’re struggling with figuring out independence now that they’ve crossed the threshold into “adulthood”, but still feel a little confused and lost.
I am also passionate about supporting survivors of trauma and understand that as young adults, sometimes there are experiences you have not yet had the chance or the safety to talk about. Therapy with me can be a space to explore all these experiences. This is a space where you can be heard, feel grounded, and show up as your full self.
How I Work:
My approach to therapy is rooted in genuine connection, curiosity, and care. I believe healing happens in relationships, beginning with the one we build together! You are the expert on your experience; I'm here to collaborate, explore with you, and bring in tools that can help. I don’t expect you to fit into a box! I support your way of thinking, feeling, and communicating and offer neuroaffirming care that honors the way your brain works, not tries to “fix” it.
Therapy with me is not one size fits all. While I practice mostly from a relational perspective, I pull from different therapy approaches, like trauma-focused, neuroaffirming, queer/LGBTQ+ affirming, strengths-based, and cognitive behavioral when it fits for you.
I care deeply about the bigger picture and how the systems in place affect your day-to-day life. Therapy with me is a space where we can name those things, push back when needed, and explore how they show up in your world. Whether that means supporting you in speaking up, navigating tricky systems, or just feeling seen for all of who you are. No pressure to have it all figured out, we can explore together.
As appropriate and with your consent, I may offer to bring parents, partners, or other supportive people in your life to help you feel cared for not only by me but also by your community.
We Might Work Together Well If:
You’re looking for a therapist who is genuine, curious, laid-back and who may use humor here and there in session. If you want an authentic relationship with your therapist and are looking for someone who is affirming, but will ask the tough questions to support your growth. My space is relaxed, you’ll often see me in colorful, casual outfits and surrounded by fidgets, sensory tools, and coloring pages.
A Bit About Me Professionally & Personally:
I earned my Bachelors degree in Women & Gender Studies from San Francisco State University before pursuing my Masters in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University, Long Beach.
I have over a decade of experience working directly with Autistic teens & adults, young adults, college students, and their support systems. Fun fact: one of my students and I were featured in the documentary Autism Goes to College!
Outside of being a therapist, you can find me spending time with my partner, friends, or my senior dog. I deeply enjoy being a part of my community and frequent local restaurants, coffeeshops, and bakeries.
